for any future access to the P12 file – such as importing your

Osmio ID Pair to another browser or another device. 

These two large, mathematically related numbers are the heart of your Osmio ID Pair

Before we generate these two large mathematically related numbers, your browser and operating system require that you provide a password in order securely store the number pair until you import it to your “certificate keystore” for actual use. The IT industry uses the term “P12” for the type of file where the number pair is stored. 

This password is NOT involved in the everyday use of your Osmio ID Pair.

This password protects that P12 file, which contains everything needed to create your working Osmio ID pair, including your secret PEN.

If you forget the password, you won't be able to complete this enrollment – because the P12 password is needed to complete Step 4, Import P12 file. 

If you lose the P12 password later, you won't have future access to the P12 file – for example, you won't be able to import your Osmio ID Pair to another browser or another device.
